new bands destroying the classics they are supposed to be influenced by, fair enough a few of them did make a good effort at them hence the 2 stars, but still, originals on one disc with covers on the other may have been a better idea and cut out the filler.
This album worth giving as a present to the office buddy you draw in the secret santa. However, hope no-one buys you it.
Some of the cover versions are as my title suggests distictly average and others absolutely shocking. If you want to hear The Kinks buy a Kinks album. However, do not listen to a poor attempt by Robbie Williams.
Maybe i am doing this album a bit of an injustice as some songs are not half bad. The Foo Fighters version of Band on the Run for example, but they are few and far between.
Do yourself a favour save £12 (£18 in other places.) If you really are desperate to waste money, go buy a few water ballons and throw them at the annoying kids down the road playing this crock. At least then you will get a laugh.
Heard most of them on radio 1 fast car was my fav out of them but keane doing under pressure was also excellent
Well worth a listen 2
Your opinion of this could vary with your taste in music!! I liked it because its a collection of modern groups/artists putting their own slant on hits from the last 40 years! I think its a great celebration of the BBC's monopoly of the airwaves! My personal favourite has to be the Foo Fighters 'Band on the run'. It made me whoop for joy!!
Buy it!! Just for the fact that its different!! And that it doesnt have Abba on it!! Dirty Dirty Abba!! I feel sick just typing their name!!
